Dr. Christopher Jones

Christopher Jones (PhD) (Principal) has had extensive experience in the association (both for-profit and not-for-profit) and political world in Canada. During his twenty years of association management work in Ottawa he was Vice President of Government and Public Affairs of a national for-profit industry association and went on to be CEO/Executive Director of two national not-for-profits (for a total of six years). He has worked with numerous companies in Canada’s rail, tourism, transportation, wireless and technology sectors. He spent nearly four years on Parliament Hill advising various politicians and a leader of an opposition party. As a result of his time as a political aide, he has a solid understanding of the Canadian legislative and policy process. Earlier in his career he worked as a Senior Management Consultant with KPMG in British Columbia.

Christopher’s professional experiences provide him with a 360-degree perspective. He has advised ministers (Environment and Finance) in the Government of Canada; spent a year working in fixed income securities in the City of London (UK); advocated (successfully) for major rail infrastructure improvements in the Lower Mainland of BC to accommodate growing Pacific Rim trade; and provided regulatory advice to the national wireless industry association on spectrum matters. He has also been the Executive Director of a housing charity; run a breakfast program for food insecure families and individuals in Ottawa; and worked with aboriginal health & community consultants to create a running program for youth on the Six Nations Reserve in southwestern Ontario. He understands the importance of community consultation and democratic participation in decision-making.

Christopher earned a Doctorate in Comparative Government at Oxford University (Nuffield College), a Master of Public Administration and Public Policy at the London School of Economics. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Studies from Queen’s University. In total, he spent seven years living overseas which helps to shape and inform his perspective.
